IBM 20L0554 hard drive specifications
hard drive - 18.2 GB - Ultra2 Wide SCSI
IBM continues to offer leading-edge hard disk technology by expanding its family of 7200 rpm drives with the 18.2GB Wide Ultra2 SCSI Hard Disk Drive (HDD). This drive offers outstanding performance and storage by doubling the capacity previously available in a slim-high (1.0-inch) form factor to 18.2GB. It also features the Wide Ultra2 SCSI interface, which is capable of a maximum synchronous burst transfer rate of 80MB/sec. To ensure that this hard drive provides maximum quality, reliability, and performance, IBM performs extremely rigorous testing and qualification in a variety of environments. This HDD has the industry standard Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) feature that can provide advanced warning of an impending drive failure when used with the appropriate software, for example, IBM's Netfinity Manager (TM). To protect customer investments in Predictive Failure Analysis (TM) server reliability software and hardware, S.M.A.R.T. implements a compatible failure reporting scheme. If during the warranty period this drive predicts imminent failure, the drive is immediately eligible for replacement. The advanced design of the 18.2GB Wide Ultra2 SCSI HDDs provides high levels of reliability in a high-performance solution. Use of the latest technologies, such as magneto-resistive (MR) heads, provides the foundation for a more reliable design. Increasing platter densities results in fewer parts and higher reliability and performance. The IBM 68-pin drive to 50-pin cable converter (01K1326) enables the use of these new drives in older systems. This converter allows these newer, faster Wide Ultra2 SCSI drives to be used in systems designed for older narrow (50-pin) devices. When a 68-pin hard drive is adapted for use on 50-pin cabling, its highest interface data transfer rate is reduced to be compatible with the existing cable and SCSI bus adapter.
