Seagate Barracuda 4XL - hard drive - 2.26 GB - Ultra Wide SCSI

This fourth-generation member of Seagate's award-winning Barracuda family of disc drives extends the solid reputation these products have gained for top performance and reliability. The new drive is ideally suited for small-scale servers, personal workstations, and high-end desktop PCs utilizing such applications as hosting Internet web sites, data processing and warehousing, and other uses requiring 7,200-rpm performance. Among the technologies implemented in Barracuda 4XL are magnetoresistive (MR) heads and partial response-maximum likelihood (PRML) channel technology, which together boost drive capacity, areal density, and performance. The Barracuda 4XL's embedded servo eliminates the need for thermal calibrations, thus ensuring smooth data streaming from the drive for such performance-sensitive applications as professional audio/video. Seagate's Advanced SCSI Architecture II (ASA-II), a recognized standard throughout Seagate's high-end disc drive lines, is again utilized in the Barracuda 4XL to optimize internal drive operations for peak drive performance.
