The new Hornet 11 mobile drive delivers unparalleled reliability and performance, even in adverse operating environments. With Fujitsu's unique Stiction-Free Trini-Slider (SFTS) and Cable-Patterned Suspension (CAPS) technologies, a super smooth media surface is possible, while decreasing the chance of errors. The thickness and rigidity of the base casting for this mobile drive has been increased for better resistance to shock and vibration. A design enhancement has also been implemented to minimize head slap damage, which includes special ridges on the disk spacers to reduce the movement of the heads. Fujitsu has incorporated a proprietary CPU chip in this new drive, with a faster system bus to increase drive-processing performance. The Hornet 11 drive boasts enhanced areal density, and achieves a high internal data transfer rate of up to 15.8 MB/s. Fujitsu's spin-valve Giant Magneto-Resistive (GMR) heads are smaller, lighter, and more sensitive than previous generations, allowing them to fly at a lower height and access data more quickly. To help correct "disk shift, " Fujitsu has implemented a feature called "repeatable run-out compensation, " which performs diagnostics each time the drive starts up and electronically compensates for errant mechanical movement.
