Seagate's Barracuda hard drive provides optimum performance and reliability for disk arrays, file servers and supercomputers. The Barracuda has received Seagate's AV Professional stamp of approval which means that Seagate has fine tuned this drive to meet the requirements of today's most demanding audio/visual applications. It features embedded-servo technology to eliminate the need to perform periodic recalibration that slows down data transfer, making this drive ideal for AV applications. Embedded-servo technology gets rid of data interruptions that cause dropped frames in video applications. The Partial Response Maximum Likelihood (PRML) technology keeps data clear from background interference and allows Seagate disk drives to increase a real density (disk capacity), boost transfer speed, improve yield through the drive's ability to self-calibrate and lower disk noise. The Barracuda supports Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) to help prevent data loss and provide advance warning of drive failures.
